Although Iranian nationals are restricted to the program, exemptions have been made to the citizenship by investment program in Antigua and Barbuda. These exceptions allow Iranians to qualify under the program.

November 29, 2016:
The Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Unit (CUI) is now accepting applications from Iranian nationals who meet the following criteria :
- “Has a permanent resident status or other long term visa in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. In addition, a permanent resident status in a jurisdiction with which Antigua and Barbuda has visa free entry arrangements is also acceptable.
- Has resided outside of Iran for at least three (3) years prior to the application for citizenship by investment.
- Furthermore, candidates must demonstrates that the funds to be invested in Antigua and Barbuda were substantially earned outside of Iran.”
